The soil and range evaluation took place in 1984 on the four parcels of land included in grazing allotments up to 1985. Some of the 16 soil mapping units studied are steep and inaccessible, with only 9% of the surveyed land considered fully capable of sustaining grazing. A significant difference was found between grazed and ungrazed areas. Once grazing permits ceased to be allowed, the authors expected most vegetation to recover, the exception being cool season grasses which may never recover fully.
