This survey of the accessible portions of the Havasupai Traditional Use Lands was done April-July 1982. The grazing potential of the HTUL was determined to be very low. This is the result of harsh climatic conditions, shallow soils which inhibit forage production, water availability, forage distribution, and soil stability. Currently no part of this territory can be grazed. Only with expensive improvements and constant herding practices could some parts possibly be used. Soil mapping delineation was completed for 40,000 of the 95,000 acres. Also included are climate information, geologic formations and land forms, vegetation types, and an evaluation of grazing potential. Terrestrial ecosystem and range analysis maps are included.
