The flora and fauna of the riparian zone along the Big Bend National Park portion of the Rio Grande has received little attention. Sixteen years have passed since the completion of the Schmidly and Ditton study, Big Bend National Park indicated an interest in a study that evaluates the impacts of recreational use and trespass livestock along the riparian corridor. This study provides an inventory of the biological diversity, establishes permanent monitoring transect localities, and proposes effective managerial recommendations
