General Vegetation (NAD27--shape) of Big Bend National Park, Texas

Alex BL and Alex B. 2000. General Vegetation (NAD27--shape) of Big Bend National Park, Texas. Big Bend National Park GIS Program

This data depicts the general vegetation classifications of Big Bend National Park. Data from a detailed vegetation map, developed by Dr. Gregory Plumb in 1987, was grouped into a more general classification created by Plumb in a 1992 publication, in which he used his detailed vegetation cover types to create more broadly defined Environmental Subregions. Plumb's categories were further refined using the underlying geologic stratum. A vegetation map created by Paul Whitefield for a Master's Thesis for the North Rosillos area of the park (an area acquired after Plumb's work was completed) was grouped into Plumb's general classification scheme and refined using the geologic stratum.
