These data are an ArcView polygon shapefile of the soil mapping units of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The soil units on this map were determined through low intensity rangeland surveys and mapping by the Soil Conservation Service and the Carlsbad Soil and Water Conservation District. The source map was published in 1965. These data reflect the field methods, soil names and descriptions, mapping accuracy, and ground conditions of 1965. The Rattlesnake Springs unit of Carlsbad Caverns National Park is unmapped and the park boundary shown is approximate.
