Agate Fossil Beds began a program in 1997 to control Canada Thistle. The program includes mowing, spraying herbacide and release of insects to weaken the plants. Approximate areas of thistle cover were created begining in 2000 and in 2001. The goal of the thistle project has been to reduce the density and area that the thistle covers.
