Mississippi NRRA Floodplains (missfldp)

Budde P. 1996. Mississippi NRRA Floodplains (missfldp). NPS Midwest Field Area

Floodplains for Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. The original data source for this maplayer is the Federal Emergency Management Agency Flood Insurance Rate Maps. A separate text file lists all source maps (with dates) for this maplayer. Maps are not currently available for some municipalities (these are also noted on a separate list), so there are data gaps in the maplayer. The most notable data gap is along the Mississippi River in the municipalities of Mendota and Mendota Heights. The FEMA maps were photographically reduced to a common scale (1:24000), overlaid with USGS quad maps, then drafted onto mylar. The mylars were then digitized in GRASS. Contact for this maplayer is Miki Stuebe, National Park Service Denver Service Center, Central Team Planning.
