Scenic Roads in the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. The source for this maplayer was the map Great River Road Historic Tour (no date), published by the Minnesota Historical Society and the Mississippi River Parkway Commission. The route was transferred by hand from the source map to a mylar overlay of 1:24000 scale USGS quad sheets. The route was then digitized from the mylar overlay in GRASS. The other available source map, Great River Road (no date), published by the Minnesota Department of Transportation covers the route in the geographic area surrounding the above map, but not in sufficient detail to permit mapping and digitizing at 1:24000 scale.
