A program of Redwood Creek estuary planning and monitoring was begun in 1980. The program includes monitoring water quality and managing the level, documenting numbers and growth of young salmonids, and developing alternatives for estuarine restoration. During the summer of 1990, poor habitat conditions and poor fish production combined to produce low numbers of salmonids in the estuary. Water level management included breaching the berm artificially 3 times during the fall. Includes a list of all the fish species seined in the embayment (June 5-September 28, 1990); illustrations show population estimates of various types, trapping data (numbers, fork length), water quality data for 10 stations, and a tide chart (June 1-September 30). Appendix A contains the 1986 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers proposal for the estuary and additional information on the restoration project, Appendix B is the proposal for a grant to add a culvert to the North Slough, and Appendix C contains additional fishery data for salmonids using the estuary during the summers of 1988 and 1989.
