The complete intertidal of twenty islands in Boston Harbor was delinated by assemblage and substrate type using the Boston Harbor Intertidal Classification System (BHICS). Individual polygons were created by walking the perimeter of every assemblage and substrate present with a Trimble GeoExplorer III GPS unit at zero or negitive low tide. All information was compiled into a single theme with an extensive attribute table. Thirty-one assemblages types and thirteen substrates types were found on the twenty islands surveyed.
