These data represent 8 submerged aquatic vegetation and salt marsh habitat classes in Great South Bay along the Wilderness Area of Fire Island National Seashore. Estuarine habitat types were mapped in stereo from 17 true-color aerial photographic transparencies at a scale of 1:7,200. The photography was taken on 9 November 1992 by Keystone Aerial Surveys, Philadelphia, PA (flight KAS 92-115) for Fire Island National Seashore. During 1995 and 1996, habitat features were interpreted, digitized, and georegistered in coordinates of Universal Transverse Mercator, Zone 18, North American Datum 1983. These spatial data are in Arc/Info Geographic Information System Coverage format.
