This file is a scan from the Official Wilderness Recommendation which was transmitted from the President to Congress on 5/23/1977, but never enacted. The Wilderness Recommendation is based on careful studies of roadless areas, public hearings, and written responses. This file identifies 179,815 acres as Recommended Wilderness and 4,050 acres as Potential Wilderness.
