Roads of Grand Teton N.P. and the JDR Memorial Parkway
GIS Specialist Grand Teton National Park. Roads of Grand Teton N.P. and the JDR Memorial Parkway. Grand Teton National Park GIS Lab
This file contains road information for Grand Teton National Park and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway. The lines were extracted from the USFS Cartographic Feature files (CFF) which were developed in the following way: In June, 1988, the U.S. Forest Service began digitizing its Primary Base Series (PBS) maps as part of the National Geographic Information system (GIS) Plan via an initiative carried out by the Forest Service Geometronics Service Center (GSC) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The resulting data files are known as Cartographic Feature Files (CFF). These files provide a standard template for the registration of resource data layers in GIS. PBS maps are developed from the (USGS) 7.5-minute topographic map series (scale = 1:24000) and are revised regularly. Digitizing was carried out under contract from 1988 through 1993. In the GYA, the original USGS source maps are constructed to meet National Map Accuracy Standards. Quads of interest to Grand Teton National Park range in publication date from 1965 to 1989, necessitating considerable editing and updating of features for some themes. PBS maps contain the following information: (1) Transportation Features; (2) Drainage courses and surface water locations; (3) Political and administrative boundaries; (4) The Public Land Survey System; (5) USFS and other land ownership (status); (6) Other Cultural features;
