Report for Western Great Lakes Paleoecology Study, Global Climate Change Initiative: Isle Royale

Flakne RA. 1997. Report for Western Great Lakes Paleoecology Study, Global Climate Change Initiative: Isle Royale. St. Paul, MN

Sediment cores were collected from inland lakes on Isle Royale. These cores provide opportunities to determine whether the timing or rates of change on the island differ from those of similar mainland types; determine whether rates of change have differed on the island according to substrate type; and, compare vegetation composition on the island before and after European settlers arrived in the region. The cores were subsampled for radiocarbon and lead-210 dating, loss-on-iginition analysis, pollen analysis, and chemical assay charcoal analysis.
