This coverage primarily depicts GPS derived road centerline data currently available for distribution from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Division of Statewide Planning, Statewide GIS Mapping Section. The road centerline data was collected as part of an ongoing project to acquire a comprehensive road centerline data data set for the state roads in Alaska. Where DOT data was missing, roads were supplemented from ESRI data or digitized from imagery sources.
