Coarse scale soil map. Soil types for Bandelier National Monument and the Otowi unit (an area that includes Tsankawi). The survey was done in three parts. The area which occurs in Santa Fe County was mapped by the USDA Soil Conservation Service during the period of 1960 to 1968, and is published in the "Soil Survey of the Santa Fe Area, New Mexico," 1975. The southern two-thirds of the monument was surveyed by Earth Environmental Consultants, Inc., (EECI) in the summer of 1974. The remainder was surveyed by EECI in April and May of 1978.
