In late August 1976, the narrow canyon of the Bear Gulch Creek close below the dam of the Bear Gulch Reservoir was closed to the public for safety reasons. A large rock failure was found at this site and its stability conditions required further inspection and evaluation. Dames and Moore was hired to assess its potential threat to the monument's visitors. This report presents the findings of the geotechnical consultation. Remedial measures and recommendations were provided.
