The data set includes all fires that have been documented that fall entirely or partially within the park's administrative boundaries regardless of land ownership, agency responsible for the fire, or type of fire (natural, prescribed, arson). These fire areas are represented as polygons with accurate area (acreage) and represent the actual geometric shape of the fire. This data was created by digitizing fire boundaries through the interpretation of boundaries drawn on paper maps attached to park fire records or from Global Positioning System Data.
