This is a polygon SHAPEFILE showing the boundaries of National Natural Landmark sites (NNLs) in the Intermountain Region. These boundary files were obtained from various sources, many of which are unknown at this point. The project of mapping these NNLs has been passed from intern to intern in this office, Geographic Resource Information Management Team (GRIM) at the Intermountain Regional Office in Lakewood, CO, with no metadata written until now. Most of the boundary files were compiled by Chris Black at the National Park Service Western Archeological and Conservation Center in the Winter of 2003. Some errors were found in the dataset when the project was begun again in the summer of 2006 and Heather Germaine, the regional NNL coordinator, worked with GRIM to identify and correct sites which were mapped to the wrong location. For some of these sites it was sufficient to change the UTM zone, for others it was necessary to view the boundary file on top of a 1:24000 USGS DRG and adjust the location as suggested by the topographic map. To the best of our knowledge and ability the boundary files have been adjusted to the correct locations.
