60 Meter Hillshade of the NED for Kenai Fjords National Park

GIS Team National Park Service, Alaska Regional Office. 2002. 60 Meter Hillshade of the NED for Kenai Fjords National Park. National Park Service, Alaska Regional office

This is a hillshade of a subset of the National Elevation Dataset (NED) for Alaska. An area of interest around each park unit was mosaicked from the individual tiles of the NED. Then it was projected to Alaska Albers and converted to an integer grid. The following is a description of the NED from the USGS Website: The National Elevation Dataset (NED) is a seamless raster product derived primarily from USGS 30-meter Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), along with higher resolution data where available. NED data for Alaska is expressed in geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude). It is horizontally referenced to the North American Datum of 1927 (NAD27) and vertically referenced to the North American Vertical Datum of 1929 (NAVD29). The resolution is two arc-seconds (approximately 60 meters). URL for NED Fact Sheet 148-99 (September 1999) http://mac.usgs.gov/mac/isb/pubs/factsheets/fs14899.html
