Park Features of White Sands National Monument (WHSA), New Mexico

National Park Service, Intermountain GIS Program Office. 1998. Park Features of White Sands National Monument (WHSA), New Mexico. Anne Poole

The dataset is an ARC/INFO coverage of park features at White Sands National Monument (WHSA), New Mexico, as they appeared in 1998. These features include restrooms, park buildings, kiosks, an ampitheater, and other spots related to park maintenance or interpretation. The features were mapped as points using a handheld Magellan 4000XL GPS unit. The data, however, were not differentially corrected and were collected during the time Selective Availability was in place, therefore the recorded positions of the features may be inaccurate up to as much as 100 meters. In addition, due to the shifting dunefield the locations of some of these features may have changed since this dataset was created.
