This is a polygon shapefile portraying the numerous island coastlines within the Assateague Island National Seashore NPS boundary. They are based off of the bay2003.shp shapefile which was created through heads-up digitizing of aerial photography, taken in October, 2003. Some sections of the polygons were enhanced through GPS, and detailed information on this is available in the logical consistency report section of this metadata. Methods for digitizing are discussed in the bay2003_methods.doc word document, which can be found in the Assateague Island NS Electronic Library (EL).
