National Park Service, Intermountain GIS Program Office. 2007. Fire History Point Shapefile for Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area, Colorado, 1942-2005. National Park Service, Intermountain Region
The fire history points represent the location at which fires began at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area from 1942 through the 2003 fire season. A subset of the data (1992-2004) contained in this shapefile was validated by the FPA (Fire Program Analysis) data assembly team. All types of fires; suppression, prescribed, and Wildland fire use fires are included in the data sets. However, fire types 37 (support actions) and 5x (false alarms) have been filtered out and are not included. The data set includes all fire points that have been documented in 1202 reports, the SAC database or other maps or documents, that fall entirely or partially within the park's fire jurisdiction regardless of land ownership, agency responsible for the fire, or type of fire (natural, prescribed, arson).
