Big Cypress National Preserve Historic Fire Ignition Point Data

Hansen K. Big Cypress National Preserve Historic Fire Ignition Point Data. Fire Program Analysis, National Park Service

This point data contains fire ignition points for fire history at Big Cypress National Preserve during the years 1990 through 2002. The data were originally collected from the Shared Applications Computer System Database (SACS) and plotted using add event theme tools in ESRI ArcView 3.3 mapping software. Plotted points were then verified based on information found within hardcopy 1202 fire report forms, incident reports, topographic data, and/or communications with National Park Service staff at Big Cypress National Preserve. Only the following fire types are included in this data set: suppressions (11-14), mutual aids (15, 16), natural outs (21), and prescribed fires (48, 49). Support actions (37) and false alarm (5x) fires are not included in this data set.
