This dataset contains ignition points for fires in Big Thicket National Preserve for the years 1976 to 2003, and fire types 11-14 (suppressions), 15/16 (mutual aids), 21 (natural outs), 48/49 (prescribed fires), and 5x (false alarms). This validation process included correcting the spatial location of fire ignition points, and all points in this shapefile were validated. The tabular data used to create this shapefile was downloaded from the SACS (Shared Application Computer System) database on February 25, 2004. Please see the narrative document that accompanies this data for additional information not included in the metadata.
