This FARSITE (Fire Area Simulator) landscape file is a model for spatially and temporally simulating the spread and behavior of fires for Everglades National Park. The landscape file contains eight data layers, including: fuel model, canopy cover, tree height, canopy base height, canopy bulk density, elevation, slope, and aspect. The data was developed by the FPA data assembly team from fuels and elevation data with extensive input/guidance from fire behavior experts. For additional information not contained in this metadata, please refer to the plain text read-me file that accompanies this data. NOTE: The landscape is best viewed with the topographic shading turned off in FARSITE. Because of the extremely flat nature of the area, artifacts from the DEM show up that have no effect on the landscape file since most of the area has less than 1 degree of slope and the aspect is flat. To turn off the shading go to OUTPUT | Landscape Display | and click off Topographic Shading.
