U.S. National Park Service policy requires that every park unit with burnable vegetation develop a fire management plan as guided by Director's Order-18 (DO-18) (http://www.nps.gov/fire/download/fir_wil_do18.pdf). The plan serves as a detailed and comprehensive program of action to implement fire management polocies and objectives, consistant with the unit's objectives. This plan outlines the fire management program in teh Greater Sand Dunes Management Area which includes NPS, FWS, TNC, and Colorado State Land Board acres in Baca National Wildlife Refuge, the San Luis Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex, the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and the Conservancya??s Medano-Zapata Ranch and Colorado State Land Board parcels.
