U.S. National Park Service policy requires that every park unit with burnable vegetation develop a fire management plan as guided by Director's Order-18 (DO-18) (http://www.nps.gov/fire/download/fir_wil_do18.pdf). The plan serves as a detailed and comprehensive program of action to implement fire management polocies and objectives, consistant with the unit's objectives. This plan outlines the fire management program at Big Bend National Park.
