Designated Developed Management Zone at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, Montana

GIS Technician. 2008. Designated Developed Management Zone at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, Montana. GIS Technician

This data depicts the developed areas of Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument (NM). It includes roads, trails, buildings, and facilities. This data was created by first creating a buffer around the park base data for these items, hand-digitizing a boundary around Custer National Cemetery, then merging all polygons to form one contiguous area. Physical buffers are as follows: 15 feet around roads, buildings, and facilities; 3 feet around trails. The roads and trails base data were line features, so the buffers created using ArcMap v9.1 needed to account for road and trail width, 16ft and 4ft respectively. The building and facility base data were polygon features. The buffers created using ArcMap v9.1 are: 23ft road buffer, 5ft trail buffer, 15ft building/facility buffer.
