General description of the Buck Island reefs. Notes the presence of a frigate bird rookery on the east end of the island and the use of the south shore by nesting green turtles. "The author has dived over a period of 10 years on reefs in the Atlantic in Florida, the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands Antilles and in the Pacific in Hawaii, Tahiti, Tuamotus, Marshalls, and Gilberts. He has seen no lovelier reef than the barrier reef of Buck Island. It is strongly recommended that every effort be made to include this small island and its marine environs in the Virgin Islands National Park."
