Initial Assessment of Burn Severity on 2006 NPS Alaska Fires
National Park Service, Alaska Regional office. 2006. Initial Assessment of Burn Severity on 2006 NPS Alaska Fires. U.S. Geological Survey
Initial assessment burn severity dataset for fires occuring in Alaskan National Parks and Preserves in 2006. Initial Assessements were completed for the Meshik River fire in Aniakchak National Monument. The initial assessment burn severity datasets were generated by applying the Normalized Burn Ratio to pre- and post-fire Landsat imagery. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has entered into a cooperative agreement with the National Park Service (NPS) to deliver satellite imagery and derivitive products centered on major fires that impact national parks and other federal lands. This data set was compiled at the request of a federal land management agency and is part of a suite of products generated for a specific fire.
