Texas Syncline Well No. 1 (formerly known as Travertine Springs Well) was originally drilled in November 1958 to 'test the thickness, character, and water-yielding properties' of the alluvial deposits in the Texas Springs Syncline. The well is currently being used to monitor water levels in the Texas Springs Syncline in the vicinity of Texas and Travertine springs. The well is located about 1 km southeast of Texas Springs and 1 km north-northeast of Travertine Springs at an elevation of 496.72 ft asl. Water levels in Texas Syncline Well No. 1 have been collected approximately monthly since 1991. In 2000, a transducer was installed in the well to collect continuous water level data at 15 minute intervals. In 2008, the transducer was removed, and only monthly water levels are currently collected. WRB discontinued processing records following WY2006.
