In April 2005, seven shallow monitoring wells (RC-1 through RC-7) were completed in alluvium along the middle reach of Rincon Creek (RC) on the southern boundary of the eastern district of Saguaro National Park (Hydrologic Unit 1505032). Dataloggers recording in 15 minute intervals were installed in three wells (RC-1, RC-2, and RC-3) to measure groundwater levels in support of the NPS's water right application for instream flow maintenance at Rincon Creek. These wells are 10.3, 13.9, and 16.9 feet deep, respectively, and are located along a line perpendicular to the creek about 450 downstream of NPS stream gaging station #320745110365701 (Pool A at Rincon Creek). Hydrographs of groundwater levels in the three wells and stage levels at Pool A indicate that the alluvial aquifer and the creek are hydraulically connected. The wells have gone dry during drought periods.
