Updated 2009 Data: This layer was created to verify and update CIRO/CRSP National Reserve fence line, grazing allotment, and land ownership parcel GIS layers for the NPS UCBN. The map layers that were developed are partially assumed fence lines and boundaries based on a variety of sources. What the hope is that with these layers that the accuracy of the CIRO/CRSP fence lines and boundaries can be verified. Original Layer Information: City of Rocks Grazing Allotments. These allotments are traditional use - permits were transferred over from the BLM and USFS to NPS when the Reserve was created in 1988. Some allotments were created with the acquistion of private land. The allotment boundaries were digitazed over Nad 27 Topo maps in ArcMAP 8.3 referencing photocopies of Nad 27 topos located in grazing allotment files at City of Rocks. The shapefile was then reprojected to Nad 83. Maps were generated and handed out to the permittees to ensure boundaries were correct. Permittees had no objections to the boundaries shown. Shapefiles contain the allotment name, permittee and acreage of each allotment.
