Cultural Resource Data Exchange Standard for Historic Objects Represented as Polygons (crobj_py): Final Draft
Knoerl J. 2009. Cultural Resource Data Exchange Standard for Historic Objects Represented as Polygons (crobj_py): Final Draft. Cultrual Resources Subcommittee of the NPS GIS Council
This draft data transfer standard describes a proposed structure for historic objects depicted as polygons. Multiple feature geometries may coexist for the same historic object as a result of overlapping surveys each with their own particular purpose and bias. All historic objects identified on cultural resource inventories of the National Park Service are covered by this data transfer standard. Attribute data are intentionally limited to those necessary for spatial data maintenance and feature level metadata. Data from external database systems are intended to link with these data to provide basic feature attributes. The means to maintain unique identifiers for each historic object (CR_ID), Survey_ID, as well as unique geometries associated with that feature (Geometry_ID) are through the use of Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) assigned by the database. Information about the genesis of individual points is documented by feature level metadata fields in the spatial attribute table.
