Edgematched topographic contour lines from USGS 1:24,000 scale topographic quadrangles, vicinity of Acadia National Park, Maine. Addendum: In this layer, thirty four quad-based contour files were appended into one Arc/Info data set by Applied Geographics, Inc. Using Arcedit, the contours were edgematched and obviously equivalent contour lines were snapped together. Elevation units on some quads are feet and some are meters. When units of adjacent quads are the same the joined contours are unsplit to make one arc. Where the units are different but are determined to be equivalent (e.g. 10 feet and three meters), the arc ends were snapped together but not unsplit. In some cases there are dangling arcs along the boundary of adjacent quadrangles when one quad had a 10m contour interval and the other had a 20m contour interval. For source layer: CONTOURS contains contour lines for Maine from USGS 1:24,000 scale quadrangles; in accordance with the source, units may be in feet or meters and intervals may be at 10 to 20 feet, or 3 meters. Additional supplementary contours exist on some of the quads. Due to the large number of arcs, elevation codes are spot checked from a representative sample. Please report any elevation coding errors to the Maine Office of GIS. The data retains the edgematching discrepancies existing in the source.
