Gaging Station Data and Reports - Mesa Verde National Park, Mancos River at Anitas Flat #371508108212801, Water Years 2001-2005

Converse K and Gerber G. 2008. Gaging Station Data and Reports - Mesa Verde National Park, Mancos River at Anitas Flat #371508108212801, Water Years 2001-2005. Water Resources Division, Water Rights Branch

On July 19, 2000 a stream gage began operating on the Mancos River near the upstream boundary of Mesa Verde National Park (MEVE). This gage was installed as the result of the water rights decree (Case No. W-1633-76, filed on July 31, 1997) that recognizes federal reserved water rights for MEVE, including instream flow rights in the Mancos River. Paraphrasing Paragraph 30 of the decree, the United States shall not be entitled to the curtailment of junior water rights unless streamflow measurement devices, deemed essential by the Office of the State Engineer, have been installed and maintained. Beginning WY 2006 the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) assumed responsibility for data processing. At the beginning of WY 2007, the USGS assumed all responsibility for operating and maintaining the station, which includes processing and compiling the data. Note: the USGS renamed the station “Mancos River at Anitas Flat below Mancos, CO” and assigned it a new station number (09370600), consistent with their naming and numbering systems. USGS data can be found at the below USGS website link (under 'Holdings' - 'External').
