This paper describes effects of an unusually large sediment input to Redwood Creek, Redwood National Park, during a December 1964 storm. It includes sediment totals and distribution patterns (in a cross section graph). Along with storage and transport, the study examines residence times, finding these related to stream order, with tributaries recovering relatively quickly. Persistence in the mainstem depends on stability of the particular deposit; residence times for stable floodplain deposits can extend to centuries.
