Little Lost Man Creek in Redwood National Park, California is the site for this study with chemical tracers. In the short term experiment, the authors found injected rhodamine WT dye concentrations only about half the expected amount. The rest enters the sand and gravel sediments in the streambed; locating dye in nearby shallow wells provides information on relationships between stream and nearby subsurface flows.
