In connection with cooperative efforts between Redwood National Park and owners of land upstream of the park along Redwood Creek, this paper reports results of the second road erosion inventory. For several years small erosion control projects have helped curtail erosion and sediment input to the streams of the Redwood Creek basin. Several landowners participated in the survey, with the primary one being Sierra Pacific Industries. Inventories of two separate areas identified over 500 sites of potential erosion along about 90 miles of roadway still in use or at least still intact. Most of the sites involve fluvial erosion, with the rest showing potential for mass movement. Tables give details of erosion potentials and culvert condition, diversion potentials, and mass movement sites with erosion potentials. Maps show sites with urgent maintenance needs. Six appendices include a road inventory form and definition of terms, identification of sites and ownership, and more tables of culvert condition and maps of erosion potential sites.
