Intelligence from American Scientific Stations: Rocks of Lassen Peak

The microscopic study of rocks collected at Lassen Peak is the focus of this brief note. Lassen Peak, "an ancient volcano," was found to be composed of dacite. Gray dacite was mostly around the southern base, cliffs, and ledges while red dacite was mainly found in the summit of the peak and a large portion of the northern rim. Basalt, being the most recent of the flows, was found with the widest distribution of all rocks.
