Saguaro National Monument, Arizona

Shelton N. 1972. Saguaro National Monument, Arizona. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Washington, DC. Natural History Series

This is a simple account of the natural history of Saguaro National Monument. Based on an earlier book by Dodge, this is a simple account of the natural history of Saguaro National Monument. It includes brief profiles of many representative species, but is not a guide to the monument. The several distinctive natural communities are noted, as well as when and where to look for certain plants and animals. A field guide is needed for identification. Many color photos, bibliography, species lists for mammals (habitat and common name), birds (occurrence and common name), reptiles and amphibians (common and scientific names, habitat), and plants (common and scientific names--probably just most common plants).
