Saltpeter and gunpowder manufacturing in Kentucky
George AI. 1986. Saltpeter and gunpowder manufacturing in Kentucky. The Filson Club History Quarterly. 60(2):189-217

A number of sites within Mammoth Cave National Park were used. This paper offers some theories as to the development of sites for the source, availability, and manufacturing of saltpetre.
