This brief abstract reports on a study documenting scour and fill in Redwood Creek, Redwood National Park, California. One reason for the study is that the recent aggradation in the river affects native salmonids. The author examined mobility of the sediments with scour chains and from flood discharge measurements taken at 5 gaging stations. Results show that scour and fill occur during storms, but gravel bars and other bedforms still remain fairly stable. The gaging station measurements show that 'depth of scour increases downstream for equivalent discharges, and depth of scour increases with increasing discharge at a given station.'
