Seasonal concentrations of grizzly bears, North Fork of the Flathead River, Montana

Singer FJ. 1978. Seasonal concentrations of grizzly bears, North Fork of the Flathead River, Montana. The Canadian Field-Naturalist. 92:283-286

Grizzly bears were observed (1972-1975 study) to concentrate in the floodplain of the North Fork Flathead River in the fall and spring. A heavy snowpack in 1974 led to heavier concentrations the following spring. Wet meadows and recently flooded alluvial stands were important habitats due to food sources present there.
