The spring food of the bears that were studied was herbaceous species. As berries ripened, more blackberry types were taken. In the fall, wild cherries beechnuts, and acorns were dominant. Very little meat was eaten at any time. Garbage consumption has increased with the upswing in camping and picnicking.
