Modde TC and Ross ST. 1981. Seasonality of Fishes Occupying a Surf Zone Habitat in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. Fishery Bulletin. 78(4):911-922
A survey of the fish species in the surf zone of Horn Island in the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Florida and Mississippi. There is a description of the surf zone at Horn Island. The methods involved 6 fish collections over a 24 hour period at designated sample stations once a month. The results are discussed (seasonal/annual occurrence, daily activity patterns, species composition, and factors affecting occurrence) and presented in tabular form. A species list includes scientific names, common names, numbers caught annually, and frequency of occurrence. A map shows the sampling locations off Horn Island.
