The Section II document addresses a three-fold study: (1) identifies the dominant species of invertebrate fauna found on barrier islands of the north central Gulf of Mexico; (2) describes types of complex associations these invertebrates form; (3) identifies primary environmental factors that influence the broad patterns of organization among the macrofauna. The invertebrate macrofauna was sampled using 558 box cores distributed over 6 stations on Ship Island, Horn Island, and Perdido Key.
