This paper discusses sediment sources and accumulations in the Redwood Creek basin, along with possibilities for erosion control. Treatment of logged hillslopes is being accomplished effectively in some parts of Redwood Creek basin; however, inaccessibility and geological conditions limit treatment of some major erosional areas, and sediment is already stored in lower reaches from previous disturbance. Movement of this sediment can affect aquatic resources, depending in particular on the timing. Prevention of serious soil disturbance, through the use of the best current land management practices, is far preferable to later rehabilitation.
