A study concerned with the stability of fish populations in tide pools on Horn Island in the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Florida and Mississippi. The tide pools and study sites are described. Fish were sampled by repeated seining until no new species were caught. Fish were counted, identified, measured, and a subsample was examined for stomach contents and biomass. The following environmental parameters were recorded: alkalinity, turbidity, pH, salinity, water temperature, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen, percent saturation of oxygen, sediment, vegetation, pool volume and area, and distance from surf zone. The results concerning species assemblages, seasonality, and relationships between abundance and environmental parameters are discussed and presented in tabular form. A map shows the locations of the tide pools sampled. Species lists show scientific names and relative abundance and biomass at different sampling periods.
